Mitch - You have excelled! (except for the rim tape :? )

Magnificent looking machine. I've only ever seen a black one in the state.

Cheers,

Might be a bit warmer down here but not a whole lot. Not many of those picturesque snow covered Yorkshire moors in winter here though.

Hi f90x, You're correct, the standard brakes aren't too bad. I also ran braided lines and found that made a big difference with the originals. This mod was more just a case of aesthetics/a point of difference. The Beringer calipers/pad combination do seem to give a stronger initial bite and a firmer...

R1100S Brake Conversion

Hi Team, Just wanted to share some photos of the radial caliper conversion that I recently completed. I did it because I like tinkering and wanted to create something just a little different that might not get noticed at first glance. I'm happy with the outcome and the braking performance has improv...

Hi Team, All finished and I'm really happy with the result. I think I have achieved the different look that I was trying to get. The new brakes have a nice feel. A stronger initial "bite" and a nice and strong progressive feel after that. The pads are still bedding in so I'll see how it fe...

Hi guys, Just a couple of update photos. I had the fork tubes re-anodised and I have painted the fork feet and clamp. Also put new bushes inside the forks. The Beringer calipers have arrived and look pretty good (in my opinion). Not much left to do apart from reassembly and some longer brake lines. ...

Yes Freez,

The length to the axle centre is identical.

Hey Freez76 (and some others), You were right. A bit of MAPP gas for about a minute with the tubes held in the lower clamp in a vice and voila. The fork feet unscrewed :-). Didn't even burn the paint off. There was a bit of staining on the anodizing where the tube had been concealed by the non-threa...

Hi Freez76, Your timing is excellent. I have just got back from a holiday with the R1100S on the beautiful roads on the east coast of Tasmania and only this afternoon I have begun disassembling the forks to get ready for the new fork feet. Before removing the fork assembly I tried heating one foot w...

Hi Team, Fork bottoms arrived this week and look the goods! I think I'll get them powder coated before doing the install. Also ordered a pair of Beringer 4 piston calipers to go with them. Once the whole set is ready in a few weeks it will be time to do a documented and photographed install. Can't w...

Just to confirm, the fork bottoms are 500 EUR per pair - half of what you mention. And yes, there are adapters that let you mount a radial caliper to an axial mount. I guess that opens up a new range of calipers, which was really my intent in the first place. Some will argue that still doesn't provi...

Hi guys, Thanks for your comments and advice. I've been thinking along similar lines and was going to try an "in situ" removal of the foot as a first attempt - once the wheel and calipers are removed. I am hoping the lower fork clamp may hold the tube in place. I'll probably need to remove...
