Sometimes you have luck on your side and sometimes not! Your close shave reminded me of a morning in 1977, going to work on my Bonnie in the rain, when travelling on the main road with a post office van at a junction ahead and on my left. I was doing about 45, when I got closer to the junction he pu...

OIL Query

Had my R1100ss nearly a year so took it for an mot today to an old bike racer, I have known for years, he has a bike repair business; it passed as expected. However whilst chatting about bikes he told me that Mobil One is too thin for my engine and that the balance shaft chain tensioners would be no...

We all do it eventually! When I put petrol in my Diesel Merc, I was tired it was late, dark and the pump pipe was black (which since I usually used Shell I thought meant it diesel), no excuses really! Filled it full of petrol and managed to drive for 5 miles with it steadily getting rougher...... Wh...

I wonder if a letter you got signed by the new owner stating that they have not been given permission by you to ride the bike on your insurance would effectively negate any potential case the insurance company may have against you? The law is not always justice and the rules are just black and white...

I did as mentioned before have an Enfield bullet . They use a separate cable operated decompressor which is threaded into the head /exhaust port like a sparkplug. Starting technique is to ease up to compression with the kickstarter and use the decompressor to get just over TDC. This allows you maxi...

Thanks for sharing, enjoyed reading about your trip. I have only been through Germany once many years ago when we were camping, our aim was to stop in the black forest but the rain was coming down heavy so we ended up going straight on into Switzerland, the sun came out as we crossed over the border!

When I started this thread, I wasn't having a pop at the bikes , just the attitudes of some riders . I love bikes , any thing 2 wheeled . I also take exception to the strange blokes who slag off the Indian & Chinese bikes . Hey man , if a guy likes his Indian made Royal Enfields, so what , he i...

When I started riding it was because it was the only affordable way of becoming independent for many people such as me. With it came old unreliable machinery which needed constant fettling which was both fun and a pain at the same time but most importantly you met like minded people who became frien...
