Re: Wider rear wheel for R1200S

I think you'll find that the bike may feel nimbler with the narrower wheel.I have the wide wheel and when I changed for a 55 tyre it felt like it had shed 20kgs. Don't know if it's related but could be.

Re: R1100s Wanted

Not the same but you can do worse than my own R1200S. Mint condition,27K Kms. Downside, it's in the Algarve. Upside, Ryannair is cheap!

1200S throttle,how?

How does the eccentric throttle on the 1200S work? I'm just curious. I've just made a new twistgrip for my KTMRC8 with a less aggressive profile that has transformed the bike. It went from dangerous to docile at low revs without loosing anything higher up.

Re: '01 1100s clutch slipping.

The thing with the R1100S is that BMW seems to have gone out of it's way to make disassembly complicated, starting with fiddly hidden screws in the fairing to everything being in the way of everything else making the job a test to anyone's patience. It's not difficult however, just do it slowly and m...

Re: Stubborn Nut

Better use an hexagonal socket or a Metrinch one that applies force in the middle of the flats. Those corners don't look too happy.

Well the man had a point about the flimsy plastics and weather resistance. The R1200S stickers on mine are not varnished over and one of the brake discs bolts is rusting despite the bike never having seen a rainy day and living in the Algarve. I never found that the bike vibrates harshly at all,in f...

I personally used to wear something of this concept similar https://www.amazon.co.uk/Motorbike-Motorcycle-Protective-Armour-Motocross/dp/B00LE61UAS and waterproof overalls in a bag... Not great, as it is still hard, restrictive, heavy and not that good of an protection. Summer Leather kit seemed be...

Motorcycle jacket/armour

I saw this on Ebay. The atrocious English tells me it's probably from China but the specs look good. Or not
I live in the Algarve where it can be too hot (42ºC last Summer) to don a proper jacket so I tend to leave the bikes home which is a pity.
Any opinions? The thing looks nice and airy...

Neil, splines on the clutch are fine, it's just a build up of moly grease ar the back that makes them look less worn. Got most of it back together tiday after losing about 3 hours fighting to get the prop shaft on. Long story but my mate that helped me didn't make sure it was properly engaged so ha...

Quote "Did you fit the 190/55 to the wider, 6" rim, rear wheel?" My bike came with the wider rim. The handling became much lighter with the bike more eager to turn. So much so that I had to restrain myself for a while until I got used to the new feel.Like taking a lot of weight off th...

I always thought that rechargeable grinders should be banned. They make breaking in far too easy. Or bike theft.
