Re: R1200S wanted

I was hoping to rejoin the Boxertrix community if I could find and buy a suitable R1200s, which I have been unable to do. I have now been seduced by the attraction of a 2017 R1200r, so not in the market for a R1200s, cheers!

R1200S wanted

I have owned an R1200s before, but now think I might want another one. So if anyone is thinking of selling theirs and want to let me have a look before advertising then please send me a PM. I live in Leicestershire but accept that travel will be part of this search

Re: New lid

Stay away from HJC RPHA max. I bought one, good reviews and was initially impressed, but it leaks severely. Water comes through top vent (open or closed) and runs down internal visor. It's been back to the distributor (Oxford) who put it in test chamber and they tell me it doesn't leak, so I really...

Re: Outstanding Service

I also agree they are good. I bought a new pair of very stylish glasses from SpecSavers last year, all was well until I next went for a motorcycle ride and realised I had chosen a frame that was too wide to get under my helmet. SpecSavers were happy to replace them with a new pair even though I admi...

I tried to fit an LED bulb without success - the tail light flickered and the ABS dash warning light stayed on constantly - but in the end changed the bike to an R1200S !!!

Although my polished pipes looked good for 2 or 3 weeks, disappointingly they soon turned brown, so now they need doing again

Thankyou for that information DaveH, I went ahead and changed the brake fluid in my 1200s yesterday, and all went well!

I am also interested in doing this job, but it is a bit worrying that the Haynes manual warns that bleeding abs brakes on the 1200s should only be done by a BMW dealer without saying why.

Does anyone know the reason and the chances of a diy-er getting it wrong?

thanks for your comments, I polished the pipes using a kit I bought on Amazon, which consists of a sisal mop you put on an electric drill, along with some supplied polishing compound, work it on the pipe, then finished off with metal polish like Autosol something like this .... http://www.amazon.co....

R1200s timing cover repaint

The paint on the timing cover of my recently purchased R1200s ('08, 21k miles) was in a very poor condition, as you can see in the first photo it was literally falling off in large chunks. To improve access I removed the exhaust pipes and put the bike on a workshop stand. Underneath the flaky paint ...

LED tail light compatibility

thankyou for that information, however i am now unsure about going down this route. It would not be possible to test a resistor by simply holding it in place because the abs warning light is always on when one turns on the ignition. It only goes off after the bike has moved down the road. So to see ...
