Yeah, the adjuster ring on the rear shock appears to be made of putty. WTF do the make the adjuster of some sort of plastic yet the locking ring is metal???

Mine is starting to break up so I'll point it out at the service.

Thanks for the info.

Ventura

Have you considered Ventura? After years of hard luggage on BMWs, VFRs and Triumphs I now use it on my 1200s and it's brilliant. The rack is easily detached when you don't want it on the bike.

TheTriumph engine is a peach...really smooth yet torquey as well. I sold my 1100s and bought an ST when my local BMW dealer wouldn't give me a decent price on a trade in for a new BCR. This was followed by a further ST which I did a fair few mods to, the best being a set of Wolf underseat open pipes...

Thanks for the info Pete. Not had much experience with Ohlins before. I fitted WP suspension to my last Triumph and was very impressed with it. I'm going to check my sag this week although the bike feels about as good as I'm going to get it now. The front end is worst....fiddling doesn't seem to mak...

R1200s Suspension

As I only got 120 miles done on my 1200 before I came off it I've very little experience with the standard settings. I softened everything up after I 'got better' to ease the pain on my collarbone. Has anyone else softened up theirs? I must admit it sems fine now and it's such an arse of a job to ad...

Ade, As everyone says the most important thing is that you're ok, although having been that man on a couple of occasions I know that's not what you think at the time. I must say that I was really impressed with BMW insurance when I came off my 1200s (on the way home after buying it!!). They just tol...

My 12s

Story so far is that I bought the bike on 6th Oct '07 after trading in my Sprint ST. On the way home after about 120 miles I managed to highside it about a mile from home. I got a broken collar bone and 4 ribs. The bike got broken plastics, mirror, head cover and footrest along the left hand side. C...

I've got the Wunderlich one (£130 fron Nippy Normans) but I believe that Pyramid do one now for the r1200s. It's probably the biggest gripe I've got about the bike is the price of after market bits F*ck me, I was £300+ for my bellypan and £180 to get it painted.....none of the body shops I knew coul...

Helibars

I just ordered a set today from 'bykebitz'. They are expecting their first sets to arrive next week. There is a promotion on just now so I got them for £176.00. :D

I didn't really want to mess with the bars but since I broke my collarbone longish trips can be a bit of a pain...literally.

Thanks...

for all the welcomes and good wishes guys. And my apologies for not replying sooner. I'm not really an ignorant twat :D I've had the bike back for a good few weeks now and have managed to rack up about 1000 miles on it. Been mostly shortish trips (circa 100 miles) as the collarbone still hurts a bit...
